Experience

Castlemakers, Inc. - Founder & President of a startup makerspace in Greencastle, Indiana. Besides creating the initial vision/strategy, created the new non-for-profit corporation, successfully filed for IRS 501(c)3 status, and raised funding. Since 2015 developed programming for Castlemakers Kids, a youth-oriented STEM group, and expanded Castlemakers into a physical makerspace for both youth and adults.

DePauw University - Co-taught a Wilderness Writing course in 2018 & 2020 where students studied the the history, politics, & ecology of the Florida Everglades then paddled the 99 mile Wilderness Waterway while writing about their experiences.

Canopus Analytics - Small to medium sized businesses consulting and market research. 3D printed prototypes of a patent pending consumer product and business advisor for Better Stuff, LLC, a B2C startup firm. Other projects have included a value chain-based industry analysis on the Biodiesel Industry, an economic/demographic regional analysis for company expansion, an industrial market segment analysis for a business that identified a targeted list of 200+ potential customers, and an evaluation of the successes and failures of university research parks.

Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology - Visiting Associate Professor of Engineering Management . Courses include Marketing in a Technical Environment, Technical Entrepreneurship, and Accounting for Technical Managers.

Rose-Hulman Ventures - Created the business plan with the RHV President and Vice-President for this $30 million business incubator and new product development lab. Developed organizational processes and procedures for approving clients and investing in firms. Evaluated potential tenants and affiliates for match with RHV and for potential success of the firms. Managed the software services group and later managed Home Data Source, an entrepreneurial startup that used remote sensors to collect long term in-home data on elderly adults for improving independent living.

Technifab Products, Inc - Responsible for marketing including advertising, external communications, & literature at this cryogenic equipment manufacturing firm - including analysis of existing and new market segments such as Liquefied Natural Gas(LNG). Created trademarked company tagline & managed firm's trademarks. Authored several cryogenic industry articles, including July 2015 CryoGas International " Building & Delivering Cryogenic Equipment for Today's Customer " and LNG Industry " Vacuum Insulation Use in Small Diameter LNG Lines ." Created and managed company newsletter and content.

CLH Consulting - Provides customized needs/company assessment, market analysis, and customer research for a variety of firms and institutions. Authored a white paper on the use of distance education and web-based instruction for a graduate program at a top five ranked private college. Writer and Subject Matter Expert(SME) for a 2 1/2 day business assessment training program. Researcher and Associate Producer for a two-part televised PBS program that analyzed and interviewed ten of the most successful Indiana entrepreneurial companies.

Cummins Engine Company - Worked in service, research and development, and new product introduction. Led the group that provided engineering, design, and development for Cummins service tools, which included a computer based diagnostic engine testing product. Other assignments included managing the product service group that provided the quality analysis and feedback for a family of six engines and organizing / leading a 6 member "swat" team that traveled across the country solving problems with a newly introduced engine cooling technology.

- MBA in Entrepreneurship & Marketing.
